Grenville Westinsure A Brief History
A Brief History
Grenville Insurance Services was first founded by Alan Glover in 1974 on the quarter centenary (400 years) of the royal charter for the port of Bideford being presented by Queen Elizabeth I to Sir Richard Grenville.
With this historical significance and the business's first office overlooking Grenville Street in Bideford, Alan felt that Grenville was an appropriate locally significant name for a new business with the aim of providing local insurance advice that offered value for money using the most up to date technology whilst still maintaining a personal service.
With this ethos still very much intact, Grenville has grown over the years, with Alan purchasing the first premises at the top of the high street and eventually moving to the offices current home at 80 High Street in 1996 where it became the definition of a real family business with Alan's wife Jayne working alongside him, his son Robin joining in 1998 and eventually his daughter Sophie in 2010.
In 2005, Grenville joined Westinsure, an alliance of independent, community based, insurance brokers and Grenville Westinsure was born. In 2010, Robin and Sophie took over the running of the business and are now working together to enter Grenville into a new phase of productivity whilst still maintaining Alan's original ethos of personal service and value for money.
